My God is … the one who sanctifies

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work. Ephesians 4:11-16

I am Sanctified

I don’t know if your church talks a lot about being sanctified or not. Maybe they talk about it, but don’t give it the name Sanctified. Being sanctified means that you’re set apart by God to do His will.

God Sanctifies

For me, one who is dealing everyday with her sinfulness, the best part of God being the one who sanctifies is that I’m not responsible for it. It’s a gift and a calling, but the Lord is the one doing it. As part of the body of Christ, I can rest assured that the Lord has a plan and is transforming and sanctifying me for His will. I get to be a part of His will in spite of making stupid decisions, bad words and unkind actions.

Sanctification Changes You

Being sanctified by God changes you. As you’re transformed, you’re called to turn away from your old ways and the Lord is working to help you avoid temptations, pitfalls and frustrations. As we learn to lean more on Him, we can be sure transformation is coming. No longer will we want to hold on to our old sins, but be sanctified to be a useful part of His plan, working to further His kingdom.

Do you feel the Lord sanctifying you?
